"Called Up" by Nicholas J., OH

The other day
I got called up.
The Twin Towers burned.
People were in trouble,
And I had to help them.

I kissed my family
Good bye.
“See you soon,”
I said as I stepped out the door.

As I raced into
The inferno and chaos,
I encouraged those I met
Along the way.
“You’re almost home now,”
I told them with a smile.

Then the Earth shook,
And with a horrifying rumble
The world went dark.

As I stood upon
Angel’s wings,
I asked God,
“Why me?”

And God said,
“You got called up.
There are people in trouble.
You have to help them.”

So I went back to work.
I encouraged those I met
Along the way.
“You’re almost home now,”
I told them with a smile.
